SALT Sodium chloride (NaCl), important component of sea water and blood.
SAND Sand, by normal temperature and pressure, is almost a liquid, i.e. it behaves as a fluidum of extremely high viscosity, very close to a point of coagulation. Sand is not only metonymically related to the sea, but metaphorically as well: to speak of "a flood of sand" is quite as justified as to speak of "a flood of people". Both are mass phenomena. Generally speaking, sand behaves - exposed to air and aerial dynamics - in the same way as the sea: subdued to the vectorial force of a given wind direction, it rises to form "waves" (dunes) which at a certain, critical height will "break", thus making one such wave (dune) give birth to another, and so on. As in the case of sea waves, this vertical process might be accompanied by a lateral movement in the wind direction ("migrating dunes"). As in the case of sea waves, both movements might be impeded - or in extreme cases brought to a complete stop - by highly ramified and tangled forms of vegetation, adapted particularly to these growth substrates (such as Sargasso seaweed and marram grass) (cf. fig. 25).

SLEMME PETER (Dan. nickname = Eng."Bad Peter"). Old fogey, pixy or troll, living in a cave near the actual Lighthouse site. Strongly objecting to the construction of the Lighthouse, Bad Peter swore to haunt it. His residence at present is unknown, and one cannot rule out the possibility that Bad Peter has recently found good company.
SOCIETY Community of living and deceased persons united by mutual recognition and/or ignorance of certain secrets, generally too obscure or too horrible to be outspoken as such (4

VERSION The BUNKER secret site, User's Guide exists in two versions, differing as to legibility. The version published in 1996 contains extended parts subjected to cryptation. The other version, without cryptation, will be kept inaccessible to the public (1
°) at the Manuscript Collection (Dan. Håndskriftsamlingen) of The Royal Danish Library, Copenhagen, until Debunk Day, 2045.WW II (Abbrev.) = World War II. Large armed conflict during the years 1939-1945, originating in Europe, but soon to involve nations of all continents. As a strategic consequence of German warfare in the outset of WW II, Denmark was occupied by German troops in 1940, to be liberated by allied forces in the first days of May 1945. Thus, the part played by Denmark in WW II was singularly passive.
WWW (Abbrev.) = World Wide Web. Large communication network system established in late 20th century, originating in Europe, but soon to involve computers of all continents. As a tactical manoeuvre within WWW, the BUNKER secret society occupied part of this network by distributing the complete text of the Secret User's Guide, - the hidden part, of course, still not to be liberated until 2045. Thus, the part played by the BUNKER secret in WWW is singularly active.
X-RAYS High energy radiation, penetrating softer materials and thus apt for discovering secrets (e.g. of anatomy, works of art, or pre-historic sites). A lead covering, however, yields protection against this kind of intrusion. The BUNKER chamber is endowed with such shielding.
YOLDIA Yoldia arctica (now renamed, for reasons of scientific priority, as Portlandica arctica), small bivalve frequently found as fossil in Ice Age sediments ("Yoldia clay").
